We get asked often how to properly measure your child for custom outfit or a special occasion gown for wedding, christening or a birthday party. Here are some helpful tips that I hope will help you get the correct measurements so we can ensure your custom gown fits perfectly.
There are two ways that you can measure your little girl. For our ready to wear garments from the "Stylish Comfort Wear" Collection, you simply need to measure either your daughter or a dress that currently fits her comfortably.
To measure a dress, lay the dress on a flat surface and use a standard measuring tape to measure the chest, waist and length of the garment. Write the measurements down. Make sure the dress you choose to measure is of the same or similar material like the one you are purchasing and keep in mind fabrics that stretch versus non-stretch fabrics. For our special occasion couture "Girl Meets Glam" Collection we ask you to measure these specific areas - chest or bust, waist and length from child's armpit (underarm) to hem (floor). Sleeves are optional but highly recommended if your design of choice has long sleeves. Here is a picture guide that will help guide you:
We also found a very helpful video on YouTube that was shot by a professional seamstress who gives very informative and detailed explanation how to do it.
So go grab your measuring tape and your daughter and let's get started! Measuring correctly will guarantee your couture gown will fit like a glove and she will turn heads when she walks in the room.
